Fixings Kit Installation Instructions | ||
| Firstly, buy a 2.2 metre length of rough-sawn 2" by 2" wood from your local builders merchants or diy store, to act as your post. Paint the post white, if you wish to obtain a better looking finish. | ||
| Parts List - Check that you have all the parts shown | ||

Fix the board to your post
Flag boards - Put the board against your post. Put the side plate over the board. Screw in the 2 4cm screws through the holes in the plate. (See illustration). T boards - Slip the post between the 2 sheets. On either side, screw 2 2cm pan-head screws through the sign into the post. Your sign is now securely fastened to your post. |
| Decide which method of installation will be easiest, and follow the instructions for the method you choose. There are four options - they are listed easiest first. | ||
Option 1. Tie the post to a sound gate or fence upright using the 4 nylon ties.
Loop the nylon ties round the bottom of the post and the upright, then tighten them as much as possible. |
Option 2. Screw the post to a sound wooden gate or wooden fence upright (or tree) using the 2 wood screws.
Drill 2 8mm holes through the bottom of your post. Then put the 2 8cm screws through these holes, and screw them into the fence upright (or tree). |
Option 3. Option 3. Screw the post to the stake using the 2x 8cm screws, and sink the stake into the ground. Check the position of underground services before sinking the stake. Overlap your 60cm stake to your post by 20cm, and screw your stake to your post. Sink the 60cm stake into firm ground to a depth of 40cm. The easiest way to do this is to tamp it in with something heavy, such as a large piece of wood (example dimensions 150cm x 8cm x 5cm). If you use something very hard (eg sledge hammer), you should protect the head of the stake with a piece of scrap wood. In exposed situations hammer in the two brace stakes at an angle to the post, then fasten them to the post using a nylon tie. |
Option 4. Screw the post to a brick/stone/concrete wall using the 2 masonry screw bolts.
Wear safety glasses when using a hammer drill. Drill 2 8mm holes in the post. Put the post section up against the wall. Using a 6mm masonry drill start drilling through these holes in the brick/stone. Remove the post then finish the holes to a depth of 4 cm. Put post back against the wall, and using a spanner screw the masonry bolts in. Do not overtighten. |
